The Training Reactor is a small nuclear installation operated by the Institute of Nuclear Techniques. It started operation in 1971. It has been the scene of numerous reactor and radiation related exercises for undergraduate and graduate students and serves as a neutron and gamma radiation source for research. The nominal thermal power of the open pool type reactor is 100 kW: The coolant as well as the moderator is light water.

Students can perform a series of experiments on the reactor. It can also be used as an intense sourse of neutrons and photons. In the building of the reactor several radiochemistry, physics and radiation protection laboratories are located.
